CircleCI Named a Challenger in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for DevOps Platforms Report

Sep 05, 2024

It also achieved the highest score for standalone CI/CD in the Critical Capabilities for DevOps Platforms

San Francisco CircleCI, a leading continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) platform, today announced it has been recognized as a Challenger in the Gartner 2024 Magic Quadrant for DevOps Platforms.1 Gartner defines DevOps platforms as those that provide fully integrated capabilities to enable continuous delivery of software using Agile and DevOps practices. These capabilities run the gamut of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and include product planning, version control, continuous integration, test automation, continuous deployment, release orchestration, automating security and compliance policies, monitoring, and observability. DevOps platforms support team collaboration, secure software development, and measurement of software delivery metrics.

We think that CircleCI’s position as a Challenger bolsters our core belief that an all-in-one platform with bolted-on features is not a suitable approach for managing software complexity at scale. Developers need the flexibility of best-in-class tools to effectively manage all sources of change in modern applications – and the tools that do this most effectively are the ones that just get out of their way.”

Aakar Shroff | VP of Product at CircleCI

In addition to being named a Challenger in this year’s report, CircleCI achieved the highest score for standalone CI/CD in the Critical Capabilities for DevOps Platforms.2 It was also noted that “customers report high satisfaction with the platform’s usability, including the ease of deployment, administration, configuration, and debugging support. As of July 2024, 86% of Gartner Peer Insights reviewers would recommend using CircleCI.”3

The rise of GenAI is putting pressure on developers to test more frequently because every single application needs to be up and running at 100%, making effective CI/CD essential. Many DevOps tools on the market can be very complicated to use and don’t include as many developer-friendly features. The maturity and robustness of CircleCI makes it super easy to adopt across our entire team from DevOps engineers to data scientists, giving us a centralized view into all of our applications and workflows.”
